Antoinette Bloom Painted as "Bliss" Hair boil-permed by Nancy Lee

Antoinette Bloom Painted as "Bliss" She is wrapped in my vintage hankie. |

Hankie Couture combined my hankie with another one to create a fine gown. |

Magic Transformation |
Vintage Madeira Linen Becomes a Dress
|
I (Nancy) purchased on eBay (from seller miladyslinens) a fancy ladies handkerchief made in Madeira, one with hand-embroidery in blue floss. The flawless white linen measured 16" x 16" with hand rolled hems. I mailed it to Hankie Couture for some of her designing magic. It became an apron-skirt and bodice over another hankie with a white scalloped edge. The shoulder straps have a slight curve. A matching ribbon sits at the waist, and a ribbon for hair is included.

Debut Dress by Hankie Couture
The vintage handkerchief of the skirt is exceptional, with a scalloped hand-rolled edge, with tree branches twining along the hem. |
A New Muse of Robert Tonner . . .
Antoinette is the newest muse of Robert Tonner. He sees "the name Antoinette as becoming synonymous with art, fashion and creativity."
Robert Tonner writes about her skin tones on the Tonner website ~ www.tonnerdoll.com ~
SKIN COLOR COMPARISON of Antoinette and Tonner's Tyler Doll:
Antoinette CAMEO is about 20% lighter than Tyler's current skin tone.
Antoinette BLOOM is closest to Tyler's current skin tone.
Antoinette also comes in HONEY and SPICE skin tones (which are darker).
In the future, Tonner plans to add more skin tones and other facial sculpts, too.
EYES: Bliss has warm brown eyes, while Rose has green ones.
HAIR: Bliss has a soft, thick rooted Saran hair, which I boil-permed into waves. I clipped a few bangs also.
I put the sides of Rose's Saran wig into French braids. When Rose began to model dresses for Hankie Couture, she had a hair cut. She is now sharing some wigs with Kish Lark and with Gene.
PHOTOS: Nancy Lee took all photos in natural daylight coming in her studio window.
JOINTS: Antoinette has fourteen joints for creative poseability.
TONNER LINK: The following link on the Tonner site has helpful measurements of Antoinette, for doll seamstresses:

BOX, Certificate, Doll Company: She has her new stand and box.
TONNER MARKS: There is an impressed mark on the back of her head near the neck: Copyright 2009 Tonner Doll Co. I signed my name there, too.
COLOR & PAINTING: Some computer screens may modify the color of the art. Some may make the image lighter or darker than it is. The doll has finer detail and more subtle coloring than a computer-jpeg-photo can show.
I am using artist-grade alkyd-oil paints (in thin translucent glazes) with the addition of alkyd resin to make the paint surface become as flexible as the doll’s vinyl skin and to make it adhere well. I finely sand (Q-tip and finest pumice) the surface before painting it for better adhesion.
FINISH:
Resin-oil glow (gloss) on eyes and satin gloss on lips
A thin veil of clear matte (non-shiny) varnish on rest of her face.
