2003 Kish Seasons Spring |

Creation as Erin of Ireland |
May you always have work for your hands to do.
May your pockets hold always a coin or two.
May the sun shine bright on your windowpane.
May the rainbow be certain to follow each rain.
May the hand of a friend always be near you.
And may God fill your heart with gladness to cheer you.
~ a traditional Irish blessing

WILD MOUNTAIN THYME
Oh, the summer time is coming,
And the trees are blooming,
And the wild mountain thyme
Grows around the blooming heather.
Will you go, lassie, will you go?
And we'll all go together
To pull wild mountain thyme
All around the blooming heather,
Will you go, lassie, go?
~ Lyrics by Francis McPeake

About this doll . . .
Erin wears a new eyelet-white-cotton slip and new undies. She has new Boneka shoes, too.
I asked Marsha at Hankie Couture to design a dress for Erin. This dress comes with a vintage embroidered-linen apron. The scalloped-edge apron has five hand-embroidered flowers created in bullion stitches. The flowers are made with a variegated thread. There is a white crochet edging on the apron. The apron is gathered into the waistband which snaps in the back. After receiving the lovely apron from Marsha (Hankie Couture), Nancy Lee stitched some beads to the apron and hair bow.
Her dress is made from new, 100% cotton. Its dainty rose buds enhance the background green.
The dress features a fitted bodice and gathered-sleeves forming a ruffle. The skirt is full and falls below the knee.
EYES: Her eyes sparkle with a mix of green and blue, with muted gold near the pupils. She has many very-fine eyelashes (upper & lower) and feathered eyebrows using varied colors.
WIG: Her wig is of natural angora mohair, hand-dyed a rich color of Auburn. It has soft waves. Angora mohair can be treated just like human hair.
PHOTOS: Nancy Lee took all photos in natural daylight coming in her studio window.
HER NAME: In Celtic, the name Erin means From Ireland.
FINISH:
Resin-oil glow (gloss) on eyes and satin gloss on lips
A thin veil of clear matte (non-shiny) varnish on rest of her face.
BOX, Certificate, Doll Company:
She has her certificate and box. I hope you won't store your dolls in the original cardboard boxes. Cardboard is an inexpensive paper product that is acidic. If you do store your dolls in original boxes, wrap each doll first in a clean white cotton pillowcase to protect it. Seasons Dolls were designed by Helen Kish and produced by White Balloon International Doll Company of Valencia in Spain. They were distributed in the USA by Paradise Galleries. These Seasons dolls were produced in 2003 (date on certificate) and are RETIRED.
KISH MARKS: There is an impressed mark on the back of her head near the neck: 1997 Kish and Company 97F. I signed my name there, too.
This doll was pre-owned, looking for a new home on eBay. Please understand that I am purchasing dolls at retail prices, just as you would. I am a portrait artist, not a doll distributor, dealer, or shop.
COLOR & PAINTING: Some computer screens may modify the color of the art. Some may make the image lighter or darker than it is. The doll has finer detail and more subtle coloring than a computer-jpeg-photo can show.
After removing all factory paint, I am using artist-grade alkyd-oil paints (in thin translucent glazes) with the addition of alkyd resin to make the paint surface become as flexible as the doll’s vinyl skin and to make it adhere well. I finely sand (Q-tip and finest pumice) the surface before painting it for better adhesion.

Nancy Lee Moran's POLICY TO SHOW RESPECT FOR HELEN KISH & other doll creators is as follows:
The dolls I use were factory painted. I would never repaint a doll that the artist (Helen Kish) had painted herself, such as some of those in the Kish Signature Line. I would not paint one in a limited edition of fewer than 300 (preferably 500 or more). I consult the beautiful book I own:
Helen Kish: The Artist and Her Dolls by Louise Fecher (hardcover published in 2006). I am NOT affiliated with any doll company, creator or manufacturer.
