Lovely Claire in December 2008 . . . Her painting is NEW, her custom dress is NEW, her wig is NEW.

A beautiful sculpt by Helen Kish, 16-inch (40cm) Seasons Fall was repainted by Nancy Lee Moran, who has been a portrait artist since 1989. Claire was her 16th doll to repaint.

Such a dress!
Marsha of Hankie Couture designed her dress in a limited edition of two.
Here is Marsha's own description of her fabric creation:
For this stunning dress, I twinned together two different fabrics.
The skirt and bodice have a rich embroidery design with meticulous stitching in a floral pattern.
The sleeves and skirt-bottom (a narrow band) have an embroidery design with small little circles. Inside each of these circles are multi-colored fuzzy embroidered 'tufts' of thread that match all the colors on the skirt.
The skirt is very full and long.
The sleeves are full and form a ruffle at the sleeve bottom. The bodice is very fitted and has 4 snaps in the back.
The bodice is completely lined. I left the skirt unlined as it is very light and airy and did not require a lining.

Her pretty wig rests upon a silicone-wig cap, secure yet simple to remove (since there is no glue). Some people enjoy changing wigs for a new look. Claire wears a size 7/8 wig. The wig name is TORI.
SOFT, SHINY CURLS ~ Easy Care
Maple Blond is one of my favorite colors from Monique Gold Collection.
It is most similar to this COLOR of TEXT, with hints of other colors.
Maple Blond is a blend of three colors, having highlights and lowlights just like human hair has!
Nancy picked the wig color to complement her dress.
It is a blend of golden auburn, golden strawberry, and bleached blond.

As an example of Nancy's repainting, here is Irish Erin from a Spring Seasons Kish doll.

More Details about Golden Claire
|
EYES: Her eyes are golden like her dress, a delicate mix of many transparent layers. She has fine eyelashes (upper & lower) and feathered eyebrows using varied colors. While I usually paint Seasons as a natural young woman without much "make-up," here the glamour of the golden dress led me to add green eyeshadow to match the embroidery.
Claire has her original box, all her original clothing, her custom-made dress, Kish certificate and my own photo-certificate.
Original clothes: I like to keep dolls together with their original clothing. Her lovely original dress comes with a felt hat, nude black stockings and black boots.
COLOR & PAINTING: The doll will have finer detail and more subtle coloring than a computer-jpeg-photo shows.
I am using artist-grade alkyd-oil paints (in thin translucent glazes) with the addition of alkyd resin to make the paint surface become as flexible as the doll’s vinyl skin and to make it adhere well.
None of my oil pigments use lead or cadmium. Though I painted this doll for adult collectors, I wanted the paint to be safe around toddlers and babies.
BOX, Certificate, Doll Company:
Each doll has her certificate and box. I hope you won't store your dolls in the original cardboard boxes. Cardboard is an inexpensive paper product that is acidic. If you do store your dolls in original boxes, wrap each doll first in a clean white cotton pillowcase to protect it. Seasons Dolls were designed by Helen Kish and produced by White Balloon International Doll Company of Valencia in Spain. They were distributed in the USA by Paradise Galleries. These Seasons dolls were produced in 2003 (date on certificate) and are RETIRED.
KISH MARKS: There is an impressed mark on the back of her head near the neck: 1997 Kish and Company 97F, which shows when Helen Kish first created the head sculpt. I signed my name there, too.
Fingernails
were painted with blush coloring.
VINYL BODY She has five (5) points of articulation (joints), at her neck, shoulders, and hips. She can stand by herself. She can sit, too.
FINISH:
She has resin-oil glow (gloss) on eyes and lips, a thin veil of clear matte (non-shiny) varnish on rest of her face.

Portrait artist Nancy Lee Moran sometimes paints (repaints) dolls. Nancy explains: The artisan painting creates a lovely doll to the specifications of Helen Kish. In my painting, I aim only for less doll-like and more life-like, to see how much illusion of life I can achieve. Some painting work I do is of such delicacy, in transparent layers, with such time involved, that it would probably be cost-prohibitive to do it within a doll factory setting.
Nancy Lee Moran's POLICY TO SHOW RESPECT for HELEN KISH & other doll creators is as follows:
The dolls I use were factory painted. I would never repaint a doll that the artist (Helen Kish) had painted herself, such as some of those in the Kish Signature Line. I would not paint one in a limited edition of fewer than 300 (preferably 500 or more). I consult the beautiful book I own: Helen Kish: The Artist and Her Dolls by Louise Fecher (hardcover published in 2006). I am NOT affiliated with any doll company, creator or manufacturer.
