NEWS FROM NANCY
June 2008 Dear Readers, Please scroll down the page to see my Newest Art. This page may load slowly on your computer since it has many image links. Happily, I have been creating new oil miniatures at the request of Lewis Art Gallery. While most will go to the gallery, I am going to offer the ones of charming children (with animals) for sale on eBay in September 2008. This new series, which is dear to me, will be named Children of My Heart. The Christian Art Publisher Carpentree will publish one of my birdhouse images in autumn 2008. I finished two large oil paintings of gardens, one with a fountain, named "Water Music," and one with a wheelbarrow of flowers, named "Abundance." I had a fun opportunity to create graphic art for a music CD cover. I added news to my BLOG on 6/22/08: What is a Hand-Colored Photo? Might you like to make one? . See BLOG button link on the right side of the page. I am offering a GIFT of a free (blank) greeting card (each has a miniature print of my artwork). To receive your gift, send your contact information to nancylee@nancyleemoran.com. Then you will belong to my newsletter group. You may request any image from the website for your art-card gift. Your information will remain secure and private (never shared). I will send a brief e-mail newsletter once a month. I am hoping some of you will e-mail questions to me. I would like to write about some of your interests in this Monthly News. I will only use your name or keep your e-mail address if you ask me to.
Originally a registered nurse, Nancy hopes the compassion of that healing profession is expressed in her art. Nancy maintains a constant reservation list, with her art found in nine states. Some of her paintings are represented by Lewis Art Gallery in Omaha, Nebraska. Please scroll down the page to see art at the gallery. In 1994, she had a solo art show at the Nebraska Governor's Mansion. The Omaha Symphony ASID Interior Designer Showhouses displayed her portraits in 1998, 1999, and 2000. Ducks Unlimited requested art of country children (not of ducks!) to make limited edition regional prints in 1998 and 2000. Nancy attended the 2001 National Convention of American Society of Portrait Artists at the Metropolitan Art Museum in New York City. Her art has been featured in the magazine Nebraska Life. |

Here is the story of "Faerie Lily": A few summers ago, I felt awed to see the glow of roses on one bush in my town. I plucked some petals and made color studies in oil paint to understand how nature created the glowing effect. Each petal had a graduation of color from violet-red to peach to fair yellow, from petal tip to base. This summer I finally found a subject on which to have fun with the color swatches I had made. My husband was watering his daylilies, flowers he extols to me often, though they are more his favorites than mine. "Wait, keep watering, let me get the camera," I said. In the shower of raindrops he made, I saw beyond the pale yellow of the daylily to another rainbow of colors, one long treasured in the file of color swatches I made. I had to concede to Bill that I was beginning to see the charm in his abundant daylilies. |
