This 8x10 black and white photograph was taken by the artist, then handcolored with oil glazes in 2004. The violet glaze on its black feathers made a beautiful sheen.
Australorp is an Australian breed of the black Orpington chicken. The rooster kindly "posed" for me by a vintage egg basket and rustic chicken feeder.
